Designed by Originally laid out by nature and shaped over centuries; refined by Old Tom Morris.

The course

The Old Course is the oldest golf course in the world and the spiritual home of the game, played over common links land beside the town of St Andrews. Its double greens, hidden bunkers, and the Swilcan Bridge crossing the 18th fairway are known to golfers everywhere. The Open Championship returns here more often than to any other venue.

Signature hole: The par-4 17th, the Road Hole, asks players to drive over a reconstructed railway shed before facing a green guarded by the deep Road Hole bunker and the stone road behind.
