Bloomfield Hills, MI
A Donald Ross course.
The course
Oakland Hills South was laid out by Donald Ross in 1918 and has since hosted six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships, and the 2004 Ryder Cup. Ben Hogan called it "the Monster" after taming it to win the 1951 U.S. Open. A 2019 restoration by Gil Hanse rolled back later Robert Trent Jones changes and returned the course toward its original Ross character.
Signature hole: The par-4 16th bends right around a pond that guards the green, a hole that has decided more than one major championship.
